They usually assess you by doing a 'credit score' – they look at your employment status, your past credit history (if any) – they check to see if you have any outstanding CCJ's against you.

Providing you can show you're capable of making the payments on time – they should process you fairly quickly. Bear in mind though, due to the current 'economic climate' they might be a tad reluctant.
