Help and Advice needed re: Debt Collectors?

Just send the mail back as return to sender no such person at this address. If you keep the mail, they will continue to assume she is living there. If you return it to them, they will remove the address and try to find her using other methods. As far as them showing up at your door, uh not for $6,000. Just send the mail back and you will be okay.what you should have done was returned the letters to the sender, now you know who has sent it, you might be better off contacting them rather than waiting for them to turn up, they will want to know if you have a forwarding address but you dont have to give it. Just give them a ring, they wont bite, explain that your sister doesn’t live there and how long she hasn’t, if you can provide any proof of this it would be better for you ie council tax records etc.As long as you have proper identification, they can not bother you. Also show any copies of your utilities bills if they are in your name or your mothers. The bailiffs should accept that and simply ask if you know of her whereabouts or of an address.

Hope this helps relieve the stress.Ring the number on the letter and tell the what you’ve told us BEFORE they arrive at your door.

I was one month behind with my Council Tax and I was in work when they arrived. They were exceptionally forceful with my daughter and I had to give the men a post dated cheque for DOUBLE the original bill – charges included having a dangerous dog and refusal of access. The cheque was not presented for 5 more months!
My daughter was BROUGHT to my place of work fearful of these men and by these men.

Please give these people a ring ASAPYou should retrun all post to sender.
You don’t have to prove your identity to a debt collector, just state you aren’t that person. data protection stops them from discussing someone else’s business with you.

If a debt collector does turn up, they have no powers to do other than collect money from the debtor – and she doesn’t live there so they will go away again.yes you will have to prove who you are. but if i was you i would get in touch with them first to prevent any confusion if and when they do turn up. maybe you could offer to send them proof of your identity ie bills in your name to proove that you run the household, but i wouldnot ignore this as they are very persistant people even though its not your debt you are still suffering through worry and its not fair.
