Struggling with debt.?
September 29, 2009
Don’t pay someone else to manage your money. Would you use gasoline to put out a fire? Read "Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey..it will change the way you think about money and therefore change your behavior. There is no magic secret to getting out of debt…just hard work and discipline. You need to be careful. Some of these debt management places are dishonest and will leave you in worse shape then you were before.
Check out some books by Elizabeth Warren and Suzy Orman.
If you are snowed in with debt and see no way of paying your debt in a timely manner, you may want to consider filing bankruptcy.
It’s not the end of the world and sometimes a fresh start is the best choice.
Good luckWhen I was looking for some help to get out of debts I was quite unsure that I am going to find some relief. But now I am on a DMP with:

I owe about £4000 worth of debt, I’m on minimum wage & need help with a payment plan. Who do I go to?
September 29, 2009
Try the Citizens Advice Bureau for general advice, but I can give you some advice too:
Cut up your credit cards. If you haven’t got the cash to pay for something, don’t buy it. You are already in debt; having credit cards will just keep temptation in your way.First of all contact the debtor and talk to them about your finances, most are very understandable and will reduce your payments. If tey go to a debt agency ten place extra money on it. If you receive a letter from 1st credit DO NOT acknowledge them, seek advce first, they are horrible, but 4000 pound is not a lot to owe so dont worry too much.
Payplan is a very good debt management company and they are a free service funded by the goverment. you do not pay for their service, do not pay a debt management company to negotiate on your behalf as it is 300 pounds up front then an amount every month then once on board they do not fight your corner. Payplan are brilliant, but speak to lender first. Dont worry, been there done it when owed 40000 pound.

The saying "it is too good to be true" than it is too good to be true. This company is out to make money and are scamming people to make that money. I wouldn’t talk to them again. The only way to get out of debt is to get on a budget, increase your income, spend way less than you make and throw as much money as you can towards these debts.Do not part with anymoney, debt management companies are thriving in business at present due to people seeking help. Tell mum to contact Payplan, they are a debt management company and they are free free free. They negotiate with lenders and agree payment plans, most lenders will only deal with this company. Do not pay anyone for a service, its a quick buck scheme that adds to your debt, then they stop paying your creditors. Payplan are 100% fantastic – disabled mum with payplan.

Could the consolidated gravity of the 2012 Planetary Line-up send a huge shower of ice in from the Kuiper Belt?
September 29, 2009
Absolutely not possible at all. Even if there were some alignment that everyone seems to keep on talking about, the distances are just too great to make ANY difference on any planetary body.
★ This is what the REAL LIFE scientists at NASA have to say about it.
http://astrobiology.nasa.gov/ask-an-astrobiologist/intro/nibiru-and-doomsday-2012-questions-and-answers
There is no reputable scientist that will say or agree that there is any ‘proof’ at any of all this doomsday junk. Name even one. You can’t because there are none. No Mayan prediction. No Nostradamus prediction. No enormous solar flare. No pole shift. No meteor impact. No Galactic alignment. No planet x. No planet Nibiru. "They" are not building underground bunkers. Nothing at all will happen.
What you saw was a commercial for a Hollywood movie. The producers want you to go to their movie so they can have your money in their pockets. There is no superstition involved. There is no ancient prophecy. The only thing that motivates this entire hoax, mass fear among teens, and lack of common sense, is Greed. Pure greed. It’s the producer’s job to make it look as real as they can.
And on a personal note, you should really try not to blaspheme the name of the Lord or the Lord’s son like that. Even "OMG" is really wrong. Try to teach yourself to say something else like holy cow or some other word instead. I know that you are not intentionally offending people by using those words, but people are offended when you do.The planets NEVER line up in a straight line. Their orbits prevent an actual straight alignment.
The sun has over 99% of the total MASS of the solar system. If an ant walked on your shoe would you know it was there?
2012 is a complete 100% junk science hoax.
http://www.2012hoax.orgYou mean this planetary line up: http://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/Solar?date=1&utc=2012%2F12%2F21+11%3A12%3A00&jd=2476948.34564&img=-k0&sys=-Sf&eyes=0&imgsize=320&orb=-b0&lat=47%B0&ns=North&lon=7%B0&ew=East&hlat=90%B0&hns=North&hlon=0%B0&elements=
Not much of a lineup is it. The consolidated gravity of this lot might shift a Kuiper belt object a few feet. Hardly anything to get excited about. What planetary line-up?
Even if all the planets in the solar system somehow lined up (which is impossible), it wouldn’t do a thing. The sun contains 99.86% of the system’s known mass and dominates it gravitationally. There will be no planetary alignment. RIght now Jupiter is on the opposite side of the Sun from Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Given the length of time it takes those planets to complete one orbit, Jupiter won’t have swung around to that side of the Sun by 2012.
I don’t know where the idea of a planetary alignment in 2012 comes from, but I do know anyone peddling information about it has never taken the trouble to find out for themselves where the planets are in the sky and how they move.Of all theories put forth to support 2012 doomsday, planetary lineup has the least probability and least possibility of bringing any effect. I can’t remember the exact number but the closest we can get to a planetary lineup is over a hundred trillion years, more than the lifespan of the sun itself and that planets don’t lie on the same plane. You caused quite a stir here. Hehehehe..,
Clear skies!"There seems to be a lot of information about the 2012 Planet line up on the net. Is it all fiction?"
That’s a polite way of putting it.
A key clue is that you won’t find mention of such a line up on any scientific or astronomical website.No.
Planetary alignments do exist, in astrology, and they are rare, but in the 5bn years that the Earth has been around, it has experienced (and probably casued) several hundred without splitting in half, or attracting comet swarms or crashing into jupiter.
http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/planets.html
There’s no evidence for any of the million and one doomsday theories which litter the web, and in attempting to cast 2012 as the latest cinematic armageddon, there seems to be another considerable industry developing around scaring the living bejeebers out of everyone. Remember the Y2K bug? Oh yeah, there was no Y2K bug, but it didn’t stop large numbers of people getting rich by selling protection against the inevitable end of civilisation that the bug would bring. (PROTIP: They were banging on about a planetary alignment during the doomsday of the Millenium as well, May 5 2000 was some kind of Grand Quincunx, or other astrological flibbertigibbet that was going to cause widespread earthwuakes and mass destruction)
Besides, everyone knows that 2012 is the time when the cosmic messiah will return from hyperdimensional space and change the world into pure zero-point energy and lead us all to the next level of human development, freed from the shadow of corporeal existence. With aliens.
Oh, and finally, to the sanctimonious person above who doesn’t like OMG – I’m a hindu, and I find your use of "holy cow" do be pretty offensive. So you just can’t win really. There were more planets "lined up" in July 2009 than there will be in December 2012.
All the talk of planetary line ups causing disaster is a lie. It was a lie in 1999-2000 and it is a lie now. The gravitational fields of the planets are too weak. The gravitational attraction between any two objects depends on the product of their masses DIVIDED by the square of the distance between them. Because the distances are pretty great, the attractions are small.
Apart from that, an object starting from the Kuiper belt now for whatever reason would not approach the inner solar system for several decades, more than a century.
The only way that these whackos can keep going on about this is because some people took no science at school and others have forgotten anything they did learn, that is, if they were not busy texting someone.
You can guarantee that if those who are not completely nuts are saying this then they have something to sell, maybe only attracting people to the site for advertising, maybe they have end of the world shelters to sell.
Get onto "solar system live" and put in any date you like. It will show the positions of the planets.

Debt!! Some advice please?

Another good source for information and a real person to talk to is National Debtline. I have always found them very helpful and will be able you re-negotiate your debts into more manageable repayments.Gas and electric at £120 a month for two people who aren’t home during the weekdays seems steep, are you on prepayment metres? You will find that it’s cheaper to move to quarterly billed gas/electric, as long as you keep the electric/gas company up to date with metre readings you’ll pay a cheaper rate for the same usage, which will bring your bill down. I only pay for the two of us £120 a quatre for my gas and electric, I can’t imagine how you manage that over a month.
You can also ask that the student loan company differ your student loan repayments, you should only have to pay that back once you are earning more then £15,000 a year, which you don’t.
Then you need to contact your creditor/s about reducing your repayments on your loan and any other debts you have. Write them a letter sent recorded mail stating that your unavailable to keep to your current repayments and would like to negotiate a more affordable plan. Most banks/loan providers will help as much as they can, it may mean that overall you pay more back as they will reduce the payments but spread them out over a longer period of time but when your able to pay more towards to loan you’ll be able to reduce the time again. It’s worthwhile asking if they will freeze interest on the loan also, which will right there reduce the amount your paying a month.
The rest of your outgoings are going to be down to you to make changes to, moving to a smaller internet and tv package. You can get a £30 a month package on virgin media including internet, cable tv and your phone line all in one package. Packed lunch over school meals, thats another £40 a month saved.

Husband divorcing me and left me with thousands of pounds of debt?
September 28, 2009
A solicitor cannot force anyone to do anything, all they can do is advise you on aspects of the law, however,I would certainly advise consulting your solicitor, as they will be the best persons to advise you.
Hope this helps,
Mike t.file for divorce and have those bills brought before the courts, he will have to pay half those bills, bring everything into the courts. also you know can have half his pension also, so why not seek this out also, if he wants play dirty, play twice has hard, you can have half his pension and other things that were bought within the marriage or sought out within the married.
get child support also and when have to prove your earnings and spending, one week do huge shop even if its 2weeks worth so be it, that be down for weekly spending along with your high bills and also have down must borrow to make ends meet off relatives, if need be get somebody to write a letter stating owe so much (even if don’t) this will have you getting bit extra out the divorce but also child support and spousal support! good luck!

Please anyone can tell me which car loan company gives car loans to people who are on Benifits?
September 28, 2009
Are you talking about a car title loan? If so, then being on benefits doesn’t matter if you have another source of income to show. However, if you are on benefits (not sure what you mean exactly) you just have to show proof of income from that. They just want to be able to see that you have some sort of income so you can make payments.

If you have a student loan?
September 28, 2009
Don’t do that, it’s stupid.
Well, you’re not actually allowed to but I don’t see how they would know. But you really should only be borrowing money for school expenses and only as much as you really need, or you will end up in a lot of debt.
For going out and stuff get a part time job.Yes, technically they aren’t going to know if you’re being stupid with that money. If you have that much left over, send it back to the lender. You have to repay those with interest. Do you really want to be paying for those new clothes in 15 years when you no longer even have them? This is why so many students are in financial trouble. If you want money to go out on and for new clothes then you need a job. Student loan debt adds up quickly… you don’t want to find yourself unable to afford rent, food, and cable for the next 10 years of your life after you graduate simply because you wanted to party in college. Good luck!

What happens if you do not pay your debts?
September 28, 2009
"if he is taken to court, he will go to prison" – it just doesnt work like that.
You don’t get "put in prison" for a personal debt or most other debts, only one I am aware of is the council tax and even that is something you have to try hard to get locked up for.
If he works for the company that owns the phone, they should simply arrange with him to take it out of his wages.
He’s trying it on with you and frankly, taking the p155 out of you.
Sorry Gordon… your response is rubbish… if a friend genuinely needs help and if you can provide help, then do so. There is no evidence here that he cannot pay… simply that he has a bill and doesnt currently have the cash to pay it… he has a job responsible enough to be given a mobile phone. However, that said, what I have said above still stands – I just think the reason Gordon gave is fairly mean for a "friend" to have. For a starter this is his debt not yours , I am willing to bet he is trying this with others as well as yourself. Ignore him or tell him to go to the Citizens advice ,or similar in whatever country you live where advice is given free. Again I say to you better to lose a friend of this type than your hard earned cash.why should you pay for his phone calls? you can get 1125 free minutes a month for £25 (less if you bargain) that’s 18 and 3/4 hours a month, and more airtime is available at a discounted rate if it’s required.
even if he’s on £6.25 per hour (that’s just above the basic minimum wage), it amounts to £50 per day, so he cant afford 1/2 a days wages a month for his phone habit?
he can negotiate with the boss after handing the phone back and have an agreed amount a month deducted from his wages, this will repay the debt and stop the boss suing him.
you cannot successfully take out an action against someone for recovery of a debt, if you have refused a reasonable offer to pay! and reasonable is in terms of the debtors financial status not the plaintiffs.
a county court will impose a interim prison sentence on a judgement debtor for refusing to attend or answer questions at a verbal examination, which is implemented at a second hearing for non compliance, as it is contempt of court, read the booklets from your local county court!!It’s not your problem, but you could offer to help him work out a suitable budget to allow him to pay this back. He should ask the boss about repaying it in instalments, or having some agreed amount deducted from his wages each payday. That might appease the boss and avert the threat of court action – which is unlikely to happen in any case, even though the boss is justifiably angry.
He won’t go to prison. He is panicking. Help him look at his bills and expenses, and find spots where he can cut back. Tell him it is fashionable to be frugal. If he normally eats out or buys lunch, encourage him to bring packed sandwiches from home, and make his coffee at the office instead of a takeaway, etc. If he goes out on the town at the weekend, he might stay home or visit friends or find something free (or nearly free) to do instead. It is a temporary necessary sacrifice until he gets on top of this.
Start as you mean to continue. If you bail him out now, it could happen again. "No" might be the exact word to spur him into action. If you still feel under pressure to contribute, make it something small – definitely no more than £30 – and make it clear there is no more. You probably won’t get it back. Look, he knew what he was doing when he made those calls. Now let him be grown-up enough to deal with the aftermath. It’s not your problem.I wouldn’t loan him the money and its unlikely he will go to prison unless he has a history of not paying his debts.
Most courts will give people the chance to pay off a debt every week or month so I think he is playing on your good nature in the hope he will get money from you.
You wont get it back as he has proved to be irresponsible by running up a huge debt in the first place

If a guy likes a girl but doesn’t have money due to debts or cuz hes sharing an apartment, would he keep her?
September 27, 2009
Money shouldn’t be the primary goal of a relationship.
That means, too much or too little money should not affect how you behave.
If you let money control your life, you will be miserable, (rich or poor).
OK?
