You need to contact your energy supplier immediately. They will be able to apportion the debt so you only pay for what is yours.

Since the shop is now closed, all gas used from date of shop closure is your responsibility.

I would move to a different flat, where the supply is not shared in this way.Did you use any of the gas for your flat? why was the shop running off the same meter as you? did the shop ever pay any money to gas? get it sorted out, pay for your own gas not the shops, what will happen if new owners move into the shop and its a 24 hour bakery, are you going to pay for their ovens to be on 24/7? – the landlord must have known about the meters?
