Any name change is reported in your credit report, so when they search your previous name, your new name will also appear on the credit report. Its stuff like if you have had same bank accout then it will follow the regsitered addresses.
If its a big debt they will be used to people changing their names. If you done it by deed poll then they will know your new name, If not official then they will find you when you have to use your old name.
My advice unless you are James Bond dont hide from debt.Some debt collection agencies work on a commission basis and get a percentage of all debts recovered. Others "buy" debts from companies, so that you then owe them the money.
Either way, they have to recover the debt in order to make money and they will stop at nothing to do this. Changing your name just makes things more difficult for them and drags the case on for a bit longer. All this time there is interest being added and charges applied.
