Debt problem, were already with a letting agent, and may want to move, but stay with the same agent.?
Yes. The agent if doing his job right he will need to do another credit check, Because the owner of the new property is probably not the owner of the first property.
Having said that it should not alter your arrangement of the first property if you stayI doubt whether the agent will be pedantic enough to do another credit check. He won’t want to pay for it as it would appear to be unnecessary to him. Well done for keeping the rent going. That has got to count with the agent as he can refer to that when dealing with a new landlord. In any event you need not ‘burn your bridges’ as you would want to have properly secured new accommodation before you gave notice where you are.If the agent is professional he will do a new credit check, for that reason, your circumstances may have changed. Also it is not just for you, oter the landlord takes out rental insurance and this requires a new credit check.
So any landlord that beleives the agents are being "pedantic" are ill informed in my opinion, and must just cross their fingers and see.
