If i consolidate my itunes library…?
You need to have the songs on your computer. Have you bought all your music off itunes? If so you cannot take them of your itunes. If you have them in a folder elsewhere on your computer you can copy them to an external hard drive but if you move them it will take them off your itunes because itunes plays them from where they are and the link connects to its position on your computer.
Also you can only sync your ipod to one itunes so whatever is on that itunes will be on your ipod. Meaning you cannot get random tracks.
In may apparently apple is opening up the tracks on itunes so that you can use them in different formats so use them on other mp3s etc.
There are many different places that you can get music from e.g. limewire, Edonkey etc.
Any music on your computer can be put into your itunes by simple going to file, add file/folder to library.
Hope this helps
