Any banks in the uk offering new accounts if you have ccjs and/or bad credit?

January 31, 2010

Try the Co-Operative bank (linked to the Co-op food store) you should find them online, or just search for "basic bank account" – this will not provide an overdraft, but will be an account you can have wages paid into, and direct-debits out of, and will be ideal to re-build your credit-rating.

Credit Card transfer advice?

January 31, 2010

You need to get another card first. However, given that you have two maxed out cards, it is unlikely that you will be able to get a good deal on a transfer. You need to work on paying these cards off first. Concentrate on the one with the higher interest rate. You probably wont get another cc until both balances are nearly cleared .You could try a bank loan ,that will have a lower interest rate.
Remember each time you apply for any type of credit your credit score is going down.

1st time buyer mortage & bad credit?

January 29, 2010

You can still get a mortgage with bad credit. The question is, how large of a mortgage and how high of an interest rate are you willing to live with. Your credit score directly impacts both those things.

Having a good down payment helps, you should really never go for less than 20% if possible. And, it’s never too late to start getting your credit back on track. As the money is borrowed against the property its often easier to get a mortgage ,than for example a tv on credit , however because of the poor credit history , the lenders that will accommodate you will cover their risk by charging you more in interest than most of the more popular banksI had this very same problem, and it was a mobile phone contract, and a MAC Tools Compressor that I bought on credit that finally got me a credit rating. I have now moved house and traded up, and also have a car on the "never never" aswell. Try a company called Countrywide mortgages. Not the cheapest, not the greatest service, but they know all the "how-tos" when it comes to filling in forms, and they do take a cut, but seem, on the whole to be reliable, and will help you find a mortgageThose things will eventually drop off your report.
In the meatime follow these rules:

- Pay everything on time.
- You will need at least 10% down payment – start saving today
- Also have at least 6 months worth of MINIMUM living expenses socked away in a separte account
- If you have a credit card(s), pay them in full each month. Carrying balances DESTROYS your credit worthiness. Nothing could be more harmfull.
- Get your credit reports once a year at annualcreditreport.com totally free
- Get a book from your library on "buying your first home for dummies" – its really a good book.

I am in a debt management plan i am not happy with my current bank can i open a new bank account with another?

January 29, 2010

Hi Renickelizabeth,

Well providing you do not owe your current bank any money, there is no reason why you cannot open a new bank account. As a debt management plan is not a legally binding agreement, you aren’t restricted by the same rules that apply to IVA’s or bankruptcy. For more information on debt management plans, 1stopmoney.com provides a range of debt management services and information to help you tackle your debt.

Good luck!Ignore Sunchine, of course you can move banks! Get it set up first and then call the DWP to change the payment details. I had 3 bank accounts and the main one got screwed with charges etc so I had to move some DWP payments over to my other two bank accounts. Was done easily and swiftly. NO paperwork involved at all, you just call them up and do it over the phone! Just make sure if your payed weekly that you have a little cash to tide you over until the next payment as it can take a few days to change it over.

In fact the CCCS and the CAB ALL reccomend changing banks when your in debt with the current bank your with so that benefit payments DO NOT get swallowed up (the bank have every right to take them accept DLA)

Just go into any bank and ask to set up a new account! (if your credit is bad you may have to open a basic bank account BUT you can still have those with debit cards. I am with the Co-op and have a basic bank account eg no overdraft, no cheque book BUT I HAVE a debit card!)

Give it about 2 weeks to set up and then give the DWP a call. I know exactly what your going through and have done this move twice, once for me and another for my partner. Best of luck!

P.S if you miss ONE payment your plan will NOT be voided. There are times when DWP payments are late, you do not control how and when you get payed. You will NOT void your plan by paying late. As long as you keep up regular payments you will be fine! Once you have set up the new bank account and called the dwp you can call your old bank and just say your payment will be late! NO problem!

With the CCCS on DMP myself for 3 years know ALL the legal ins and outs AND the MYTHS. EDIT Even if you do owe the bank money you can still move bank account! As long as you keep up repayments it doesn’t matter! I owe natwest £2k but I have two other bank accounts I use, one of which I got AFTER I got into debt.

Does anyone no of a loan Company that will give loans out with bad credit?

January 28, 2010

A few years ago you could easily find a lot of lenders who would go for that. Today, the only ones are financial death traps designed to suck as much money out of you as possible and keep you in debt.

You would do best to avoid getting a loan right now. You may think that you have to do it but there are other ways.

Can you join the royal marines if youre on a debt management plan?

January 28, 2010

As with all armed forces, when joining up they ask about your financial situation, now as a clerk in the army i would advise you to talk to the recruiters as they have to know that you can live comfortably on their wages, and believe me when i say the wages are really poor in the first few years, and would be longer for you as you would be front line without trade, i had a little debt when i joined up and paid out almost 300 everymonth for bills and debt, and anything upto 320 aa month is ok by them

Credit card help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

January 25, 2010

You’ve been refused a card for a reason, either because you don’t have credit history or you have bad credit history.

Do not get a card with an unknown company, it may be ok for a while, but if you were ever unable to make payments they will probably be more harsh than a bank would be, which will cause issues.

Any company that offers you a card which you haven’t asked for is dodgy and I wouldn’t trust them.

Always ask yourself why you need a credit card, if it’s for the odd purchase then it’s ok, but if you need it for every day spending DON’T DO IT!! You will only get yourself into debt later on down the line, remember that credit cards charge interest, so any purchase you make on them, unless you pay it all off straight away when you get your bill, it ends up costing you more in the long run.

This credit gain is asking YOU to pay for a card remember, and it’s likely to have a high interest rate.Loads of first timers are getting this as the banks got their fingers burnt once they are now putting all their energies into recupping monies. Apparently its not just first timers either so I have been told.
If for example 2,000,000 take out a new card, put in £100 each thats a cool £200,000,000 that they can invest at 5% and your account will be charged for the useage, good innit so they for nothing make over the course of the year an extra 10 million pounds.
Its called taking the piss. So, if you deposit the minimum, say £20 and top it up as you need you will stop them creaming you and be able to put the other £80 into a savings account and change it as you go.Be cautious. I would not accept any card that asks for a "minimum fee" up front… particularly if they ask you to wire a money order anywhere. I can find a site where they claim to be a US based member of Richmond Group, who is apparently a 100 best to work for according to times online… which seems to check out. But the site also is littered with grammatical and spelling errors, which you would not commonly find in such a large and well known/respected/successful company. This sends up warning bells.I would get a credit check to see why the application was declined. It may be that you have an outstanding debt you’re not aware of, or more seriously, someone is using your name to spend money on credit cards (ID fraud). But maybe you’re aware that you have a not so great credit history>

I wouldn’t trust the company who contacted you. If your bank won’t give you a card, then why would this other place want to? Fishy!

Help me choose a Prepaid Credit Card please?

January 25, 2010

Hiya,

they also sell these in sainsburys stores usually near the checkouts and also Morrison’s around the birthday cards section, be careful though, only get one if you really need it i.e not for a gift for someone else. i got one of my mum for £25 and i bought a top for £20. Ive now got £5 i cant spend on this card as you need to buy something greater then the value and add extra money to it unless you want to waste your money and have some on it you cant use.

it doesnt tell you this any were on the website or even on the card it came with but i had to ring up to find out. there more trouble than there worth. also they add on extra costs so if you buy one for say £10 they will charge you around £3.00 extra !!

Recently divorced / got the house. My ex signed the quit claim deed and when I went to refinance, we owe?

January 22, 2010

I am assuming that in your dissolution of marriage order that there was a term that stipulated that you had to refinance the house. If you are unable or unwilling to do so, you legally are in breach of that order, so yes, your ex could take you to court because you are breaching the terms of your agreement.

That being said, is the judge going to kick you of the house for breaching that term on your initial court date. No, of course not. But you are going to need to show the judge that you are working on a plan to come up with the difference, so that you can refinance the house. You can’t just wait for the housing market to recover. It’s not fair to your ex. If he wanted to purchase a home sometime in the future, in all likely hood he would be unable to, because no bank is going to give someone another mortgage if they already have one in their name, unless they are really wealthy.A judge cannot order a lender to refinance. A mortgage is a contract between a lender and debtor, and a judge cannot order the lender to modify that contract, except in bankruptcy. Tell your ex to hold his horses, and be patient. Tell him if he keeps bothering you, you’ll just let the home go into foreclosure, which will cause his credit rating to tank.Hello Folks,
I am Shantel Kerry by name, I live in USA
I saw your question on how you need a loan I will refer you to Mr Feotoso Terry Terry who gave me loan of $100,000 3 days ago with interest rate of 2.5% and monthly repayment 3 months after deposit, he does not require any secured or unsecured collateral for loan approval and transfer. also my monthly income was not verified before the loan was transferred to me .He can really help you but you most be willing to pay back as at when due ; here is the email :o nlinelenderfirm@gmail.com check it out .
Why I am testifying this is because, I was scammed about $4,500 Dollars by Esteem loan firm and I decided not to involve my self in such business again until A colleague of mine introduced me to this Great Loans firm

He said they can give loan within the range of $2,000 to $850,000 after application had been approved. You don’t have to refinance or sell the home. Just settle your home mortgage and have it free and clear. This way, his credit will stay intacked and you will get to keep the home.

Debt to pay off in Australia?

January 19, 2010

Look on your Australian bank statement for your IBAN number (International Bank Account Number) Every account has this.

Go into your UK bank and ask for an international Bank Transfer of say AU$300 to cover any possible charges on top of your already outstanding balance. It will probably cost about £15-20 to have it transferred, and the amount (i.e AU$300) will be automatically deducted from your UK bank account in UK£. I believe you can also do this through telephone banking if you are registered to use it.

This is by far the quickest and safest way to do it. Travellers cheques can get lost in the post, puting your further overdrawn and posting cash is a major risk.

Good Luck.
